Notification permissions

Notification permissions allow WatchKeeper to alert you when a watch is about to begin, when a handoff is due, or when another schedule-related reminder needs attention. Without notification access, the app can still store and display your schedule, but alarms and watch alerts may not work as expected.

When you first enable alarms, your device may ask whether WatchKeeper is allowed to send notifications. To use watch reminders reliably, choose the option that allows notifications. If permission is denied, you can usually change it later in your iPhone’s Settings under the WatchKeeper app.

These permissions matter because WatchKeeper is built around dependable watch awareness. A schedule is only part of the job. The crew also needs timely reminders, especially in low light, during fatigue, or when the next watchstander is asleep. Notification access helps the app bring those alerts to your attention at the right time.

If alarms do not seem to be working, notification settings are one of the first things to check. Make sure notifications are enabled, that alert styles are allowed, and that device settings are not muting or hiding important watch reminders. It is a good idea to confirm this before departure rather than discovering the problem underway.

What to Check

  • WatchKeeper is allowed to send notifications.
  • Alerts are visible and audible the way your crew expects.
  • The device is not suppressing alerts through another setting.
  • Alarm behavior has been tested before the trip.

Notification permissions are a small setup step, but they are important to the overall reliability of the watch system. If the crew depends on alarm prompts, those permissions should be confirmed early.
